No, it's not The Muppet Show - it's the brand new, all singing, all dancing, all marketing Atomik Soapbox.
Y'see the old blog at CopyWrite had become unfoccused and unsure what it was - a blog about being a writer that mentioned marketing, or a marketing blog impersonating a writing one. So the time came to split it down the middle, repot the cuttings, add some fertiliser (there's an obvious joke there) and see what happens.
CopyWrite is still there, concentrating on the experiences and trials of being a writer. But over here, we have Atomik Soapbox - devoted to marketing, the social web and related topics. Plus, it has given me the opportunity to clean out all the drek that had built up and freshen up the designs for a cleaner, more streamlined (and less problematic) template. Hopefully those of you pointing out browser issues won't notice any more problems.
Why Atomik Soapbox? Well, what is a blog if it isn't a soapbox for the atomic age? No one stands on Soapbox corner anymore (outside Hyde Park in London in case you're wondering) railing against the government or attracting a crowd to hear spontaneous rants about cats or blancmange or whatever has got up the person's nose. (Actually, does anyone still eat blancmange? I just don't come across it any more.)
If you're wondering about the K in Atomik, you'd be crap at word games. Flip it around and you have Kimota, my online pseudonym for many a year. Neat huh? So it's both a blog for the atomic age and a blog for (a backward looking) Kimota. Maybe that second interpretation doesn't work so well after all. Oh well, bought the domain name now.
If you enjoyed the previous marketing posts housed over at CopyWrite, fear not. All have been imported into this new blog, complete with comments. There is also an updated, fresh commenting system - welcome aboard Disqus and bye bye JS-Kit.
I'm sure there'll be bugs, some broken links and other forehead slaps that people will discover over the next few days and weeks. If you find any, please do me a favour and throw me a note in the comments form on the Contact page.
You'll also notice the addition of a Resources page. Here is where I plan to offer the various slideshows and some upcoming ebooks for free and unfettered download. The first ebook is nearly ready to be launched and the second is being planned. No need to subscribe, enter your email or any other requirement. Just download, keep and hopefully share.
So, welcome. If you have old links to Copywrite, some may now be redirected here. If you were previously subscribed, you may want to subscribe to Atomik Soapbox for any future marketing posts (up there on the right). There have been a few rants building up inside me over the last couple of weeks while I've been rebuilding, so expect a couple of particularly opinionated posts over the next few days. After all, you wouldn't expect anything less!
