Wow - incredibly gobsmacked.
This week, the finalists were announced for the Lizzies - more correctly known as the 7th annual IT Journalism Awards, recognising excellence in IT media and journalism. It is rather humbling to discover that, unbeknownst to me, I was nominated by an editor that obviously thought I didn't give him too many headaches. As a result, I have been announced as a finalist in the 'Best New Journalist' category.
Smugness abounds.
The nomination follows a series of articles I wrote for Nett Magazine last year. These included:
- Does Google Control the Internet?
- Is the Internet Killing Copyright? and
- Can You Get Rich Quick Online?
So thanks indeed to Josh, Stuart and Shane over at Nett for the faith they've shown in me and thanks also to Netregistry for hiring me as their content writer in the first place.
Of course, I am not the only finalist. Therefore, without further ado...
Ahem...
The individual finalists in the category of Best New Journalist for the 7th Annual Sun Microsystems IT Journalism Awards are:
- Justin Robinson
- Patrick Kolan
- Jonathan Crossfield (that's me...)
- Patrick Avenell
- Nathan Lawrence
- David Ramli
The envelope gets opened on Thursday April 9th at Sydney's Star City Casino. Ooh, I love an excuse to get the posh suit out!
